The Open Door Spiritualist members make a lively
and colourful group - to say the least! All the members
participate in the Open Door community, not only through
the unfolding and expression of their spirits, but also from their hearts - through their financial contributions,
through their hard work and through the sharing of their
many and various talents.
Numerous members can be seen working at the service
on any given Sunday; many more can be found working behind the scenes
on such ongoing tasks as repairing, cleaning, gardening, raising funds,
organising social activities and aiding in the continuous research at
the Sanctuary.
The Open Door Spiritualist members also play together. There are various activities
to participate in, from philosophy night, book club, crafts and fancy
dress parties to Sanctuary getaways. Together, the members of the Open
Door community share joy and sorrow and laughter and learning as they
discover ways to increase their awareness of healthy living, to nourish
the body, mind and spirit, and to awaken to the greatest natural resource
of all: the Power of the Spirit.
Although itself a registered charity, the Open Door, through its community,
continues to raise funds for other charities in both the local and international
communities. We urge and request our members to be aware of their impact
on the larger community: individuals do make a difference. We also urge
each individual to be part of the solution in the healing of the world’s
problems and in the healing of the earth itself.
The “Team Spirit” of each of the individuals who make up
the Open Door community is a driving force behind our growth and advancement.
We are grateful for each and every person who participates, each in
his or her own way, in the name of service. Without this community,
the Open Door legacy could not continue. Our community and each one
of its members ensure that future generations who discover the Open
Door will always have a place to call their own. ©
