Spiritual Healing
A very important feature at the Open Door is the provision of spiritual healing. There are over forty healers, as well as a growing number of apprentices, who work at the Sanctuary. These spiritual healers belong to our associated body,
the Inner Quest Foundation.
All spiritual healers work under a strict code of conduct which sets out the legal and moral obligations of the healers.

Healing takes place at the Sanctuary during the Sunday community service. We also have an evening healing service every week. This evening service takes the form of a guided mind journey followed by spiritual healing. Due to the overwhelming popularity of spiritual healing, the Inner Quest added a third opportunity to receive it. The Inner Quest healers are available on alternate Saturdays between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.  Appointments are recommended. Please call 250-383-1012 for further information.

The way healing works is probably best described by the Spirit Guide, Silver Birch, through the mediumship of newspaper editor, Maurice Barbanell.  Silver Birch said healing flows "from Spirit, through Spirit, to Spirit", affecting the recipient in mind, body and spirit.  The healing is directed from the healing forces through the healing medium to the recipient.

Spiritual healing is sometimes called “contact healing” or “hands-on healing” because of the usual contact between the healer and recipient.  The healer’s hands are placed on the recipient's shoulders as the healer attunes to the spiritual healing power and the healing takes place.  The recipient does not need to have faith or profess a particular belief; in fact, apart from relaxing, the recipient does not need to do anything at all.

Often the recipient will prefer the healer to touch the area of the body that is most affected, such as an arthritic joint. This is purely the psychological need of the recipient. Spiritual healing is directed to those areas of greatest need automatically without the act of conscious control.

Absent Healing

Absent healing or distant healing is the process by which recipients receive healing even though the healer is not physically present.  This form of healing can be just as effective as when the healer makes physical contact with the recipient.  In absent healing the healer attunes to the spiritual healing power and then brings to mind the names of those people who require healing.

Within the Sanctuary, there is a very active and dedicated absent healing group that works every week. There is also an absent healing request book wherein names may be placed for those individuals requiring absent healing. ©
