November 7 @ 10:00 am
Date: Saturday, November 7, 2020
Time: 10-2 p.m. (depending on pace of participants)
Where: Francis/King Regional Park
Who: All ages and abilities. Dogs on leash
Directions: From downtown Victoria: turn left onto Burnside Road from Douglas Street. Check local maps or Google maps regarding specific details for your area. Follow Burnside Road West to Prospect Lake Road and turn right. Go a short distance to Munn Road which then veers towards the left. The parking lot for the park is a little further up Munn Road on the right. Meet at the main parking lot next to the Nature House. There is overflow parking nearby. Washrooms are available at the parking area.
Hike Details: This hike will be in two parts. Starting from the Nature House at the parking lot, we will take the Elsie King Trail. This short and beautiful trail is accessible to wheelchairs. Enjoy the scenic trails through old growth forests, higher ridges, and lowland creeks and marshes.
We will stop for a rest and snack break at a covered picnic area near the parking lot and Nature House.
In part two of the hike, we will take the Centennial Trail around the main part of the park. There is the option of exploring the High Ridge Loop Trail, depending on our energy.
The hiking trails are rated easy to moderate.
What to Bring: We will take short breaks along the way, so bring a lunch or snack, bottled water, beverage, etc. Bring a walking stick and camera, if desired.
Wear: Comfortable and sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather: rain or shine. Dressing in layers is recommended for this type of activity.
